MURDER AT THE MANSION BOOK TOUR #Review

Murder at the Mansion
by Janet Finsilver

Fortunes, fineries, and foul play . . .
It’s whale-watching season in Redwood Cove, and B&B manager Kelly Jackson’s battening down the hatches for the tourist rush at Redwood Heights—a Victorian-style estate owned by her boss. And due to recent jewelry thefts, her duties include keeping track of the many dust-covered artifacts spread throughout the property. But when Kelly finds Sylvia Porter’s lifeless body, menial tasks don’t seem so terrible. Enlisting the help of a ragtag group of brainy retirees, aka the “Silver Sentinels,” Kelly’s on the hunt for clues hidden behind the mansion’s glamorous façade. . .and for a killer who may want to make history of her next!

Murder at the Mansion
Cozy Mystery
Lyrical Underground (June 7, 2016)
Paperback: 190 pages
ISBN-13: 978-1616509323
E-Book ASIN: B015MA6EDO

I read this as a stand alone, not having read the previous book in the series. I don't feel I missed out on much, perhaps the fun of getting to know the Silver Sentinels better.

Kelly is beginning a new life for herself, a "new normal" she hopes, surrounded by friends and a new work based family. Since renovations on the B&B she is managing are not quite finished, she is helping out at another company owned property that is being sold.

There are complications, deep dark secrets and twists to this plot.
It is strongly character driven, with enough descriptive passage to keep historical mystery readers entranced.
The addition of some playful canines and two adorable children add lighter moments.
Even the grumpy detectives eventually show a human side.

This was a fun cozy with enough deeper elements for any genre mystery buff to appreciate.

I did receive a copy via Netgalley for review purposes.
