This is not your average Southern town. With a hint of mystery, a lot of laughs, and unique charm, you’ll catch a glimpse of everyday life in Goose Pimple Junction in this short story compilation. Short & Tall Tales occurs chronologically between Murder & Mayhem, book 1, and
Heroes & Hooligans
, book 2, in the Goose Pimple Junction mystery series. Book 1.5 is a fun escape that will answer questions readers may have about the residents of this quirky small town.
How did Johnny Butterfield become police chief?
How did Tess and Jack get engaged?
How did Ima Jean come to live with Louetta?
How do you celebrate an Apple Day?
These questions and more are answered in Short & Tall Tales in Goose Pimple Junction. Five short stories, one novella, and three recipes will give you more of life in Goose Pimple Junction, make you laugh, and have your mouth watering. If you want a feel-good read, you’ve come to the right place. Grab some sweet tea and escape to Goose Pimple Junction.

Although this quick escape read is the third book about Goose Pimple Junction, the events contained occur between the first two books and is the response from the author to requests from readers who adore this quirky, small southern community. Readers fell in love with the characters and wanted details about special events in their lives. While you may enjoy it more completely if you have already been introduced to this loveable, zany cast of everyday locals, it can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone humorous read. The book begins with various shorts where you will better understand personalities and be treated to one very elaborate proposal.
We are also treated to great phrases of homegrown vernacular such as absogulldarnlutely. Many others come to play as the town seniors try to discuss adult relations in clean and mixed gender phrasing.
The zingers continue in "Is it Hot Enough for you." The next stories show more of the spirit and mettle of GPJ townfolk and how it gets passed down.

In the long tale, during Apple Day I had to laugh out loud when Lou interrogates her older sister about a mysterious beau, using the classic question, "Who are his people?"
If you enjoy small town antics and colorful southern language, you'll want to visit Goose Pimple Junction where the folk may argue amongst themselves but respect their differences and are quick to lend a helping hand... along with an opinion.

I own the two other books in this series but was given this book in exchange for my review. If you like TV shows like Gilmore Girls or Hart of Dixie, if you will enjoy a more colorful Mitford, pick up Amy Metz's series.
